He marvels at how many different projects I can have on the go at any one time.
I can’t even watch Netflix without a crochet project in my hand. Hubby has gotten used to having to explain the TV show to me because I’m not paying attention!
My craft addiction started…
When I was a child, I was lucky enough to have a Mum and Nana who were accomplished seamstresses. I learnt on my Nan’s 30+ year old sewing machine. When I was pregnant with my first child in 2010 I decided that I didn’t like the baby clothes at the department stores. So I got to work making my kid-to-be a funky wardrobe. Before he was born I also did my first market. I really had no idea what I was doing back then! I was using the wrong threads with the wrong fabrics and really not making a quality product.
Fast forward to 2017…
And I have a son and daughter and two successful years selling high quality children’s clothing at the local markets under my belt.
But then, by the end of 2018…
It was becoming very hard to sell kids clothes in such a saturated market, so my direction needed to change. A friend of a friend randomly asked me to make a custom bag for her dōTERRA essential oils. On finishing this job, she told me there could potentially be a market for this product.
Time for a big change!
I reopened my Etsy store in December 2017, with a main focus on essential oil bags. The products took off straight away and I was amazed at the steady trickle of orders coming in, which never happened with my kids range.
By March 2018 I had quit the local markets, to focus on my new essential oil bag range.
I do all of my work from home, while our kids are at school. In most of my spare moments, I can be found in the sewing room, industriously sewing away, to bring amazing new products to my awesome customers.
